All About Mrs. Grice
My name is Jackie Grice and I am one of your teachers. I have been a teacher for 6 years. I have taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade and Technology in grades K-5. I have a husband, 3 kids and 2 dogs. I grew up in Michigan, but ended up moving to Maryland 12 years ago. I would love to say that we moved because we love the water, but we really moved here because growing up in Michigan, I just see too much snow! I love living here and I love teaching in Maryland. If you have any questions about me, just ask and I will answer:)
I love to teach technology. I have been integrating technology into my classes since I started teaching in 2004. I believe that in order to promote active and creative learning, you should use technology in your classroom. Everyone loves using technology, so it is important for teachers to know how to integrate it. If you have any reason to contact me, my contact information is [email protected]. |
My Teaching Philosophy:
As a teacher, I believe that all children are capable of anything as long as they have a teacher to guide them. A teacher should be the person who is there for someone every day that they come to school. If a child has a question, the teacher is there to answer it. If a child falls down, the teacher is there to help them up. A teacher is someone who shows compassion to everyone. I became a teacher because I wanted to be that person who helps a child no matter what. The children always matter to me and I want everyone to succeed in life.
The teacher should always be able to make their class as creative and active as possible. The classroom is somewhere where students should be hands-on in their lessons. I feel like students should be free to voice their opinions and ideas because everyone has good ideas. The teacher should make all students feel happy to come to school because the first thing you need to be is happy if you are going to have a good day of learning.
I also believe that parents and teachers should collaborate as much as possible because learning does not stop when the children go home. The learning goes beyond school and into the household. It is a continuation throughout the night. As a parent, I know that I am still teaching and asking my son questions all the time and I feel like because I do that, he knows a lot more than if I didn’t continue his learning at home.
I have used technology in my classroom since I first started teaching. I believe that technology advances student learning. Not only does it advance learning, but it also helps the child to engage in their learning. Any type of technology gets the children excited and therefore, they learn more. I feel like the addition of technology gets them thinking more critically while learning basic technology skills as well. I always blend my technology lessons with content lessons so that they are learning both at the same time. Technology should be used in every classroom in an active and engaging way that enhances student learning and that is what I believe that I do with the addition of technology in my classroom.
